I have profound hearing loss in both ears, over 95%. I had menigitis when I was a baby and have worn hearing aids since I was 3 or 4 years old.

I've been out of work for a while and I am having problems finding jobs. Does anyone know if people w/ hearing losses qualify for benefits? I have an appointment w/ a lawyer if a few weeks, but I'm trying to find out more information before I meet w/ the lawyer.

Would help to know which part of the world you live in...
and maybe what sort of work you have experience in a well. More we know the better we can try and help Wink

People with hearing aids or those who receive some form of disability benefit can qualify for a disabled person's railcard. This allows the cardholder a third off most rail fares. If they are travelling with an adult companion, the other person can also get the same discount. There are some common reasons why most applications for hearing impairment befits filed with Social Security are rejected, these are;
1. Inaccurate application of the Social Security laws.
2. Incomplete application for Social Security disability benefits
3. Unsupported claims of incapacity to work or find a job
4. Incorrect and/or insufficient medical records.
If you have a hearing impairment, Social Security disability benefits may be available.
